Real life continues to get in the way of progress on Stanza, but there are just a few things to announce.
We were together last weekend and had the opportunity to show our Stanza mockup to other songwriters and get their input on Stanza. We had a good discussion about Stanza’s goals and our thoughts on publishing new songs. We feel the need to re-state our current thoughts on the subject: We are currently trying to create a service that provides access to a large library of previously published songs. We especially want to preserve the old songs that are becoming harder to find. As for publishing new songs, we still don’t know exactly what our process will be. Someday we will write a blog post that dives into our philosophy and our goals for new song publication, but we won’t go into that now. In short, Stanza will not be a 5-minute publishing house for new songs; it will be a reserve of already published songs.
As was mentioned in the last blog post, we are in the process of hiring someone to begin building the user interface. Kent has posted our job listing on Upwork, a website for hiring talented people to do things like coding, design, engineering, legal work, writing, etc. He has received numerous responses and is in the interviewing process with several individuals. We hope to announce that we have hired someone before too long.
We have settled on our royalty payment numbers, so Taylor will be finishing up the copyright holder contracts this week. We hope to start getting copyright holders signed up before long.
Also of interest is the fact that Rudy Bueckert has joined the Stanza team. He brings many years of experience in graphic design and publishing to the table. We are happy to have him on board for advice and counsel.
