Continued Progress Despite Engagements

Based on a recent study, we can confidently state that 33% of youth brethren who start a sheet music app project get engaged within 6 months. These are interesting numbers, and they pose interesting questions: Does starting a music app make you more likely to get married? Could the many and varied benefits of a sheet music app extend into the realm of romance as well? It’s hard to say at this point whether these engagements are coincidence or causality, but we are continuing to monitor this phenomenon and add to our data.

In case you haven’t heard, Kirby is now engaged as well, which means it’s even harder to get anything done. Ah well. ‘Tis the season of love, and music apps–unlike time and tide–can wait for man. But don’t worry. Work is still in progress on the most highly-anticipated Mennonite sheet music app of the year, and Taylor and Kirby are actually showing an admirable amount of participation considering the position they are in.

As was mentioned with great enthusiasm in the last post, we have hired a guy and he is plugging away at the ol’ keyboard building our iOS user interface. Kent is talking frequently with him and answering any questions he has or bringing them to us. He (Kent) has a system set up where the programmer can upload his work to be reviewed and tested. What we have seen so far is exciting! At some point we want to show you some screenshots of what the app is looking like, but we aren’t quite ready to.

Some of you have asked about what I wrote in a previous post regarding the iOS app being finished first. If all goes as planned, that is what will happen. “Why,” you ask, “are you making the iOS app first?” The answer is simple: Kent (our in-house coding expert) and Kirby (our main designer) are Appleheads. That’s why. We have begun some work on the Android app, but it is behind the iOS app. However, we don’t know at this point when we will have enough songs to launch Stanza. It could be that the iOS app will be out several months before the Android version, or it could be that both apps will be ready and waiting for launch. We will keep you updated on that situation.

Another thing that got done this week was getting Stanza approved for TestFlight, which our in-house coding expert assured me is not actually that hard. TestFlight is the Apple platform used for beta testing new apps. Since we don’t actually have an Apple Developer license yet, we are using one from one our team members to get that accomplished while we wait for a DUNS number so we can get a Stanza Music Apple Developer license.

The copyright holder contract is complete, and Taylor is working on adding a page to our website where authors can enter their songs for the Stanza library and sign the contract online with DocuSign. It’s a bit of a complicated process to make your experience easy, so it’s not ready yet; hopefully it will be soon.

We still welcome your questions about any part of the app, Stanza Music Inc, royalty payments, or whatever your are curious about. We want to be transparent about Stanza and we want you to understand why we do the things we do. Feel free to post your questions in the comments, reach out to us via the Contact form, or message one of us personally.
